Bachillerato Year 1: Introduction

Pay close attention to the year syllabus and structure of your text book. It is on page 2.

You've got a vocabulary section per lesson. Lesson 1 is dedicated to "appearance and personality". But this is not the only vocabulary you've got to learn. You are supposed to cope with every single word included in the lesson texts and exercises. Build your own vocabulary lists. Use the dictionary as many times as necessary. Your workbook complements this section. There's also a special workbook vocabulary builder section and more exercises in the student's multirom CD. Your teacher will supply you with extra exercises if convenient or on your demand.

You've also got a reading section. The reading in Lesson 1 is tittled "Handwriting". You've got to work this section through carefully. Study the vocabulary and the structures in the text. Read it as many times as necessary. Ideally you should be able to undertand the whole text after a quick reading. The workbook complements this section. As reading is fundamental, we will also read some graded books along the year course.

You've got a grammar section as well. Lesson 1 is dedicated to present simple vs present continuous. Many grammatical points will not be seen in Bachillerato any more. So it is necessary to be able to review them any time you've got a doubt. It's worth knowing how to do that. We recommend to you some manuals in the article below. Both the workbook and the student's multirom CD complement this section. Extra grammar exercises are also available from the teacher.

There's also a writing section. Lesson 1 is dedicated to informal writing. There's a writing guide on page 150.The workbook complements this section. Extra writing exercises are available from the teacher.

You've got a listening section too. Lesson 1 is dedicated to describing people. You should know some additional ways to get listening practice. We will suggest you some in class. The workbook complements this section as well as the student's multirom CD. Extra exercises are available from the teacher.
You've also got a speaking practice section. Lesson 1 is dedicated to describing people. You should know additional ways to get speaking practice. We will suggest you some in class. Extra exercises are available from the teacher.

We will get involved as well into a course project along the year. Most probably related with a theater play.

You've got a pronunciation practice section on page 133. It's really useful. We'll go through it along the year.

There are three extra appendix vocabulary lists: phrasals, prepositions & irregular verbs. We'll go through them along the year.

Finally, additional exercises & guidance is available at Burlington website for Bridges 1.
